How to Draw A Watering Can
Step 1
In this first step of our guide to drawing a watering can, we’ll start very simply. This tool usually has a large rounded handle, making it easier to pour from any angle.
It is also what we will draw first in this step of the How to Draw a watering can guide.
To do this, we draw two fairly large curved lines parallel.
There is a gap at both ends of this handle to which the watering body can be connected later. Once it looks like our reference image, move on to step 2!
Step 2
You’ve created the drawing of this watering can, and now let’s start with the body.
This body for the watering can has a square wave design that we show in our reference image.
Connect the bottom edge of the handle to the left side using some straighter lines for the sides of the can.
Next, draw some rounded lines for the top and mouth of the watering can and then the bottom.
The right edge will have a gap, where we will attach the spout a little later in the instructions. Now let’s move to step 3!
Step 3
We’ll start on the spout of the glass soon, but prepare for this important aspect by adding some small details in this step of how-to draw a watering can guide.
First, we’ll add some simple lines that will help give more definition to the can body.
Add a vertical line on the left edge of the can and a slightly curved horizontal line on the top edge.
Next, to complete this step, we’ll add the small plastic section supporting the spout arm. You can draw this section with simple lines on the right side where the spout arm starts.
Step 4
We will start drawing the spout arm in this fourth part of the watering can drawing.
These arms will sometimes be slightly curved, but what we draw for this design will be fairly straight and stiff.
You can draw some straight, smooth lines at an angle in the free space on the side of the watering can.
Finally, finish this step by adding more lines at the end to draw an area of the border where the opening and all the final details will be added in the next step.
Step 5
You are now ready to complete the final elements of the drawing, so you are ready for the final step of this how to draw a watering can tutorial.
For the outlet, draw a circle with a line around the perimeter. You can then connect it to another line at the arm end of the spout.
Once you’ve drawn this outline, you can add a series of points inside it for the holes you want the water to come out of.
Next, add a few simple lines across the watering can to add depth to the design, then finish with any additional details you wish to add!
Step 6
In this final step of drawing the watering can, add some color to the finish!
Watering cans are usually made of plastic and can therefore be available in almost any color imaginable.
In our example image, we kept things more subtle by using light shades of blue and gray to give the watering can a cooler look.
You can opt for a few similar colors, but also make them bright and bold if you prefer!
